Just side stepping for a brief moment - I wanted to take a little time and fill you in on a bit of the backstory about my speedway journey, because it didn't start at Driven By Dirt 4 years ago...
In 2009 I was fresh out of radio school and spent some time as a radio announcer on More FM (Kapiti Coast & Marlborough). I had a passion for all things radio which eventually led onto setting up my own online local radio station Miix FM. During this time, friends and I had been attending race meetings at our local track. It got me thinking, "How cool would it be to broadcast the commentary online". It was a space where no one was doing it, so why not give it a crack!
So I reached out to the club and pitched the idea. They we're open to it and wanted to give it a go. This is when Speedway Live was born. Preparations we're underway, working out what needed to be done to push the audio out as well as pushing the stream through a fast enough connection, remembering of course, fibre internet wasn't easily accessible then
